Horror as jet ski rider, 26, is killed in accident over Bank Holiday weekend

  • Sussex Police have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances  

A 26-year-old jet ski rider was tragically killed in an accident at Worthing beach on Bank Holiday Monday. 

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Goring-by-Sea yesterday shortly before 6pm after reports of an incident in the sea. 

The man was taken to hospital where he tragically died.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances and that a report will be prepared for HM Coroner.  

A spokesman for Sussex Police told MailOnline: ‘Emergency services responded to a report of a medical incident in the sea at Worthing beach, shortly before 6pm on Monday, May 29.

‘A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital, where sadly he was later declared deceased.

‘His next of kin have been informed.’ 

The Coastguard told the Sun: ‘HM Coastguard, Sussex Police, South East Ambulance Service and an air ambulance responded to reports of a man separated from his jet ski off Goring-by-Sea yesterday, 29 May.

‘At around 6pm a Coastguard Recue Team from Littlehampton and a lifeboat from Littlehampton RNLI were sent to the scene.’
