At least they wore helmets: Hundreds of nude cyclists ride around the streets of Bristol for World Naked Bike Ride – but critics demand an end to the controversial event

  • Annual event designed to raise awareness of safer cycling and body positivity
  • Critics took to social media, asking to ‘make it stop’ or calling event ‘disgusting’

Hundreds of nude cyclists took to the streets of Bristol today to bare all in aid of World Naked Bike Ride – but were met with a backlash from critics demanding an end to the controversial event.

The event is billed as a celebration of bicycles and bodies, highlighting the vulnerability of cyclists on crowded roads and in a demonstration against car culture and oil dependency.

The cyclists set off from the Full Moon and Attic Bar at 12.30pm, from where they headed down the A38 towards Cabot Circus.

They ended their tour at the harbour opposite the SS Great Britain, before returning back to the pub they started at.
