Last night Jay Slater’s mother issued a direct plea to her missing son, saying: ‘We just need you home’.
Debbie Duncan said she has ‘not slept’ since the 19-year-old disappeared on the Canary Island of Tenerife.
Asked how the family was coping with the situation, Ms Duncan told PA: ‘We’re not. I’m not coping very well at all.
‘I’ve not slept, I’m exhausted. It’s been awful.
‘I can’t give up on him, I just can’t.’
Asked if her head was spinning from the past few days, she said: ‘It is, it is.
‘People say: ‘Yeah, I understand’ – no, you don’t, you don’t understand.’
Good morning, and welcome to MailOnline’s liveblog on the latest updates in the search for missing Brit Jay Slater.
The teenager has now been missing for seven days after disappearing on the Spanish island of Tenerife a week ago.
His last known location was in the mountainous area of Teno Rural Park, some 10 hours’ walk away from his accommodation in the southern part of the island.
The 19 year old’s family have flown out to the island, which lies off the west coast of Africa, to join the search for him, and last night his mother issued a heartfelt plea for help finding him.
