Controversial podcaster Joe Rogan has predicted former Fox News host Tucker Carlson would be hard to beat if firebrand host decides to run for US President in 2028.

Speaking to commentator Patrick Bet-David, he claimed if Donald Trump wins the presidency next year, Carlson, 54, has the experience and appeal to succeed him in the White House.

‘If Tucker went to run in 2028, he could win, because it would be kind of carrying those policies,’ he said.

‘But also he’s sort of a no-nonsense guy who exposes b*******, you know, pretty humorous way and a very insightful and biting way,” he added.

The podcaster on the latest edition of the Joe Rogan Experience added to growing speculation the conservative firebrand may put his popularity to the test.

‘And he’s also got a very popular voice,’ Rogan said.

‘Like if he decided to run for president — let’s just make a scenario. Trump wins in 2024. He has four years. If Tucker went to run in 2028, he could win.’

Carlson began his TV career with CNN and helped set up the conservative Daily Caller website in 2011.

But it was at Fox News that he became a darling of the right, helping propel Donald Trump to the White House and becoming one of the former president’s favorite interviewers in a series of high-profile encounters.

‘I love Trump, personally,’ Carlson said last month.

‘I think we’re going to see Trump’s emergence as the most significant thing to happen in American politics in 100 years, because he reoriented the Republican Party against the wishes of Republican leaders.’

Carlson has also been pictured spending time with Trump in social settings in recent months.

But speculation about Carlson’s own political ambitions have soared since he was terminated by Fox News in the wake of its $787million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems over voting fraud allegations in April.

Within days Carlson said he was enjoying his new-found freedom, telling DailyMail.com: ‘I haven’t eaten dinner with my wife on a weeknight in seven years.’

He has taken his show to Twitter, where he has 10 million followers, broadcasting from a studio at his home in Woodstock, Maine.

But he is also reportedly raising money to start his own media empire after the loss of his $20million yearly salary in the wake of his departure from Fox.

Married for more than 30 years to wife Susan, the native Californian had a privileged but unconventional childhood, with a journalist father who would take him along to murder scenes, according to a new biography.

Recently, Carlson teased a reporter who asked him if he was seeking the White House, telling him: ‘Yes. Announcing Friday in New Hampshire.’

The anchor was replying to a text in May from Insider journalist Mattathias Schwartz about his presidential ambitions.

Carlson then admitted he was ‘totally kidding’, adding: ‘I can never control myself.

‘I’m fundamentally a d**k. My apologies.’

While on air, Carlson dismissed claims that the January 6 attack on the Capitol was an insurrection and was outwardly loyal to former president Donald Trump.

But the lawsuit with Dominion exposed a trove of awkward internal emails and texts, including messages in which Carlson revealed that he ‘passionately’ hated Donald Trump and complained about senior executives, allegedly labelling one a c***.

Rogan told his listeners that Carlson has ‘red-pilled a lot of left-wing people’, as he discussed the anchor’s prospects with his guest.

‘Do you get the vibes from Tucker that Tucker wants to be a Netanyahu, a Churchill, a guy that is, you know, a journalist that’s been debating everybody has been reading every issue for the last 20, 30 years,’ Bet-David asked him.

‘You think it’s actually maybe he wants to make a run for 2028?’

‘Well, what he’s doing is very profitable, right?’ Rogan suggested.

‘Like, what he’s doing makes a tremendous amount of money talking about things from his perspective.

‘I think he’s going to continue to do that. Whether or not he decides to become a politician, I don’t know if he has any aspirations about that.’
