A tragic incident that led to the death of Dadrien Harrison, an 11th-grade student at Lake Highlands High School, has recently caught the attention of netizens. The news of the shooting incident that occurred at an apartment complex close to the school on the 2nd of March 2023 has caused fear and concern among the students.
The Dallas authorities have launched an investigation into the matter to find out who killed Harrison. Although little information is available on what led to the shooting, the authorities have been actively investigating the Lake Highlands High School campus crisis for a week.
In response to the incident, many students were required to go through a metal detector test. The sudden loss of a young life has sent shockwaves throughout the entire student community in the area.
Dadrien Harrison Shot To Death
Lake Highlands High Junior Dadrien Harrison, 16, passed away after a tragic shooting on Tuesday evening at around 5:30 pm, an hour after his class ended. He was shot to death on 2 March 2023.
Reportedly, the Lake Highlands High 11th Grader’s dead body was recovered at an apartment complex in Northeast Dallas. The area is not far away from his school.
Harrison’s mother, Ashley Kelly, had an emotional breakdown after her son’s untimely demise. Kelly gave a short insight about what she thought might have happened, saying:
“My son’s friends said they were walking, and a few unknown guys started following them. After a while, they started chasing and shooting from behind. His friends turned back, and my son only was shot in the back.”
After the horrible event, the deceased 16-year-old student’s grieving mother wants answers from the authorities. Kelly broke down in tears, and said:
“He (referring to her son Dadrien Harrison) was a good boy. My son always dreamt of going into the military and would have joined the force in the coming year if he was alive.”
Kelly thinks her deceased son was at the wrong place at the wrong time. We hope for the investigation report to be out soon. Concerned authorities are trying their best to serve the victim’s family justice.
Who Killed Dadrien Harrison?
Dallas’s investigating team suggested Harrison was shot from behind in the back. The Lake Highlands 11th grader was outside the school area when the incident happened.
Although the shooting occurred outside campus, Richardson ISD briefed parents immediately on 2 March 2023 (the same day) with an emergency message.
Regarding the early reports, investigating officers have released no suspect or description of the suspects. They are in a dilemma about whether the shooter knew the victim.
Soon after the incident, other students were compulsion to go through a metal detector test the following day on campus.
The district officers announced grief counselors that the students had to go through a metal detector test on 2 March.
They informed students to show up a few minutes early so that their classes won’t be disturbed and it would speed up the screening process.
