Look inside the NYC Central Park apartment Fox Chairman Rupert Murdoch paid $35M for – 20% over asking – weeks after $787M settlement with Dominion in civil case

Fox Chairman Rupert Murdoch paid $35million for a luxury apartment overlooking Central Park – weeks after a $787million settlement with Dominion Voting Systems.

Murdoch purchased the sprawling unit on the 27th floor at 150 Central Park South after it went on the market in January.

The 6,500-square-foot unit apartment – with seven rooms and five baths – has been owned by other millionaires, including investor Julian Robertson Jr. and singer Alice Tully, according to The Real Deal.

The multi-million dollar purchase made by the media mogul came weeks after Fox settled a lawsuit with Dominion, which had sued for defamation, claiming hosts such as recently-fired Tucker Carlson knew President Trump’s election fraud claims were untrue, but pushed them for ratings.

Dominion sued for $1.6billion and settled for $787million, narrowly avoiding an embarrassing and highly-publicized trial where Carlson and other hosts would likely have been called as witnesses.

Murdoch recently escaped having to testify in the lawsuit.

Dominion alleged the conservative network knowingly aired false claims that its machines were used to rig the 2020 presidential election.

Days after the settlement, beloved Fox News host Tucker Carlson was fired despite bringing millions of views to the outlet.

But the settlement appeared to not have made a dent in Murdoch’s pocket, judging by his new home at the Hampshire House apartment.

Other property highlights include a gym and media room, which leads into another grand room that can be used to host dinners and other events.

The kitchen, which features an island, has been recently remodeled with stainless steel structures and appliances, according to 6sqft.

It’s unclear if the home will serve as Murdoch’s full-time home, but he is expected to indulge in the luxury of a doorman, concierge and laundry and cleaning services.

The home was listed for $30 million, but Murdoch spent another $5 million to make sure it was his.

Located in the heart of Manhattan, the home is close to Broadway, the Lincoln Center and the MOMA.

Douglas Elliman agents Joanne Douglas, Donna Renna, Nicholas Polihros hold the listing.
