A young skydiver has been airlifted to hospital after he drifted off-course and colliding with powerlines during his first solo jump.
Emergency services were called to Lower Light, a township in South Australia‘s mid north, just after 12pm on Saturday following reports of an accident.
The man, aged in his 20s, was left with abdominal and leg injuries and was airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
The man had jumped from a plane 10,000ft in the air just moments before the crash.

Richard Timperon from Adelaide Skydiving Centre told 7News the man was one of their ‘newer skydivers’.
‘We’re not actually quite sure what happened. He’s landed off the drop zone, and he’s had a hard landing,’ he said.
‘We were on the scene with him within one minute of him landing. We had people on the way because we could see he was gonna land off the drop zone.’
Mr Timperson confirmed the man’s parachute had opened.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
