A man is dead and another is in custody following an alleged early morning assault in a Queensland holiday town.
Police say emergency crews were called to Hastings Street on the tourist strip at Noosa Heads after reports an 87-year-old man had been assaulted about 6am on Sunday.
The man died at the scene before he could be taken to hospital.

A 27-year-old man has since been taken into custody and is assisting detectives with their inquiries.
A crime scene has been declared and witnesses or anyone with information is being urged to contact investigators.
Police are expected to hold a media conference about the incident on Sunday afternoon.
