A horror house fire that saw a teenage boy rushed to hospital could have been started by a young child playing with matches. 

Police are investigating the cause of a fire that erupted at an Armadale home in Perth‘s southeast at about 10:30am on Friday. 

The inferno destroyed the home’s carport and sent a teenager to hospital.

Investigators are now probing whether a four-year-old child who was playing with matches at the property started the fire. 

The teenager injured in the blaze is expected to recover from his injuries. 

The house fire was one of several incidents attended by emergency crews on Friday, as Western Australia continues to record scorching temperatures. 

Fire crews were able to extinguish a fire that engulfed a two-storey home in Marylands, in Perth’s inner suburbs. 

A machinery business in Forrestfield and a home in Seville Grove also went up in flames on Friday, with no injuries recorded.
