The body of a missing 15-year-old boy has been recovered from a river in Gainsborough, police confirmed on Saturday.

Oliwier Kaczmarowska had been missing since the evening of Monday, 22 May, when he was last seen near the riverbank at The Floor Road bridge.

His death is not being treated as suspicious, police said.

Lincolnshire Police mounted a huge search effort, including calling on the local community to provide any useful dashcam footage as officers tried to trace his movements prior to when the teenager was last seen.

Underwater search teams and a police drone were also deployed to help with the ‘significant round-the-clock effort’ to find the missing schoolboy.

Police said a file was now being prepared for the coroner to investigate the circumstances of the death.

Officers have also asked people ‘not to speculate about how or why’ the teenager died and said that his family is being supported by specialist officers.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire police said: ‘We are saddened to confirm that following formal identification, the body found in the River Trent yesterday afternoon (26 May) was 15-year-old Oliwier Kaczmarowska.

‘His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is now being prepared for HM Coroner.

‘Our thoughts are with Oliwier’s family at this incredibly difficult time.

‘They are being supported by specialist officers and we ask that their privacy is respected.
