Amazing photos have surfaced showing the incredible recovery made by a group of starving dogs whose rib cage was visible, making an incredible recovery after being rescued from their ‘shameful’ owner.
The four saluki cross lurchers were discovered by the RSCPA in Kirsty Dunne’s home after the charity was tipped-off that she’d been mistreating the pooches.
And when their inspector gained access to the address in Blackpool, they found the dogs in a darkened room with faeces covering the floor.
Three of the flea-ridden and dirt-covered mutts, Apollo, Luna and Charli, were just 18 months old when they were rescued, while the oldest, Tilly, was three years old.
The youngest pups were all underweight and had very little fat on them. Their hip bones were sticking out and their ribs and spine were visible.

When she was initially discovered, Luna, who is 18 months old, had matted fur around her rib cage
In addition, Luna had matted fur around her rib cage, and Tilly looked subdued and quiet.
Dunne, 59, agreed to sign the dogs over to the RSPCA, and they were examined by a vet who ran blood tests to rule out any underlying metabolic diseases.
And their results came back normal meaning that the dogs had not reached their ideal weight due to a poor and insufficient diet.
Dunne later pleaded guilty to four animal welfare offences after the RSPCA took her to court.
And on June, 16 at Blackpool Magistrates Court, she was given 12 weeks’ jail, suspended for a year, and ordered to complete 15 rehabilitation activity days.
In a witness statement during the hearing, an expert vet stated in his opinion the dogs had suffered for many weeks as their nutritional needs were not met.
They were underfed so they were constantly feeling hungry and became physically weaker.

Their suffering could have been easily prevented by feeding them an adequate amount of food, he added.
The dogs were then treated with antiparasitic drugs to eliminate their fleas and recovered in foster care through the RSPCA’s Westmorland Branch.
Mitigation was heard in court that Dunne was remorseful and regretful.
But magistrates commented that they had never seen such a shameful and serious case of neglect.
Despite paying for a care package with a vet for services, Dunne allowed all four of her dogs to become thin and each had serious fleas, the court heard.
She was also ordered to pay £400 court costs plus a £154 victim surcharge as part of her sentence.
Thankfully, all four dogs have now been rehomed to loving families thanks to the RSPCA after making a full recovery.
