A Just Stop Oil protester accused of filling 12 fire extinguishers with paint to cause criminal damage has appeared in court.
Oliver Rock, 42, accused of keeping the extinguishers in his garage along with other equipment used to ‘lock on’ – this was form of protest, which makes it difficult for police to remove protesters, was made illegal earlier this year.
Rock, of Southwark, London, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court after his arrest on Thursday where he pleaded not guilty to having articles with intent to cause criminal damage and being equipped to lock on.
Fellow protesters from the climate action group stood outside the court to support Rock, holding placards that read ‘solidarity with Ollie’, ‘we won’t diet quietly’ and ‘join us – it’s your future too’, attracting a heavy police presence.
He was release on unconditional bail and will appear at Wood Green Crown Court in August.

Rock had previously been involved in campaigning for another eco-group called Insulate Britain, who became known for their road blocks.
Members of Just Stop Oil have been causing havoc on London’s roads for months now, demanding the Government to stop all new oil and gas licences.
The activists have staged slow marches across the capital on most weekdays and rush hour for months now, causing huge delays on the road and frustrating members of the public.
