A young Ryanair pilot who was killed along with his colleague on the way to the airport in a collision on the M62 has been pictured.
Senior First Officer Jamie Fernandes, 24 and his colleague Captain Matt Greenhalgh were travelling to Liverpool airport by taxi when the crash occurred at around 5.30am on Thursday morning.
Both men died at the scene of the incident between Junctions 7 and 8 on the westbound carriage of the transpennine motorway.
Mr Fernandes had served as first officer since May, having previously been a junior first and second officer.
He studied at Buckinghamshire New University before obtaining his pilot’s licence at CAE, based in Quebec, Canada.

The car driver was rushed to hospital where he remains with serious injuries.
A driver of one of the two lorries, a 61-year-man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving.
The victims’ next of kin are receiving support from specialist officers.
