A huge pile of syringes, a mattress on the floor and a bottle of Coke: Shocking photo shows the inside of an alleged drug dealer’s home

Police have arrested a man and a woman for allegedly dealing drugs after finding a huge pile of syringes, $20,000 cash and other illicit substances during a home raid.  

The 36-year-old man and 43-year-old woman were arrested at about 10.30pm on Monday during a suspected drug deal in Hawker, north west of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.  

Police searched the man’s car and found cash, prescription medication and 19 clip-seal bags containing substances believed to contain illicit drugs including synthetic heroin and methylamphetamine.

A home in the suburb of Cook was searched at about 11.30pm, with similar items to those seized from the man’s vehicle found. 

Shocking photos taken by the police show the disheveled state of the alleged drug dealer’s home, with a huge pile of syringes found heaped on a mattress on the floor.  

Chemicals used to manufacture illicit substances was also found along with drugs and $20,000 cash. 

Police swiftly evacuated the residence after discovering the hazardous chemicals, but will resume their search on Tuesday once the home is declared safe. 

The Cook man and Coombs woman will face court on Tuesday charged with receiving stolen property and trafficking in a controlled drug other than cannabis.

The man is also charged with possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of crime. 

The arrests come after ACT Police launched an ongoing operation targeting the manufacture and distribution of illicit drugs. 

Police are urging anyone with information about the manufacture, sale or distribution of illicit drugs to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
