HT: Liverpool 1-1 Burnley

Frustrating first 45 for the Reds

It’s been a bit of a struggle for Liverpool in that first period but that’s down to the brilliance of Burnley. The visitors have defended well and looked a threat from set pieces.

Jota’s goal looked like it would finally make it an easy afternoon for the home side but O’Shea responded with the goal Kompany’s side have deserved.

it’s set up for a big second half at Anfield.

Landmark assist for Trent

The Liverpool star has now asissted more Premier League goals than any other defender in the competition’s history.

He’s only one ahead of his teammate though, so expect the due to keep battling for that record.

GOAL! Luton 0-2 Sheffield United (McAtee)

McAtee makes it 2-0 from the spot. What a result this would be for the Blades but there’s a long way left to go.

GOAL! Fulham 2-0 Bournemouth (Muniz)

Involved in the first and the scorer of the second, Muniz doubles Fulham’s lead. Marco Silva’s team have been in fine form so far this afternoon.

Norgaard for the Bees, who have lost their last six games away from home.

GOAL! Liverpool 1-0 Burnley (Jota)

The Liverpool forward keeps up his red-hot form as he nods in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s corner. Burnley’s defence didn’t cover themselves in glory but the Reds won’t care.

GOAL! Luton 0-1 Sheffield United (Archer)

Huge goal for the Blades and Archer. The striker had wasted a chance only moments before.

Wolves 0-0 Brentford

Big blow for the home side. In-form Cunha is forced off with an injury. Bellegarde comes on to replace the Brazilian.

Spurs’ unwanted record

Gross’s penalty was the sixth the north Londoners have conceded this season.

Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Reds continue to toil against Burnley

Quansah gets himself a yellow card after halting a threatening Clarets attack. Jurgen Klopp will not be happy with the way they have given the ball away in attacking positions.

They can ill afford to keep handing Burnley chances from set-pieces.

GOAL! Tottenham 0-1 Brighton (Gross)

Sorry Spurs fans, I jinxed it. Van der Ven brings down Welbeck and Gross converts from the spot.

Tottenham 0-0 Brighton

Pretty even between Spurs and Brighton

Apart from a worldie of a save from Vicario in the opening minute. Brighton have contained their hosts since then but you can’t imagine it’ll stay goalles for much longer.

Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Reds aren’t ticking just yet

It’s early doors but Burnley will be delighted with their start. The away side have looked dangerous from set pieces and counter attacks, while the reds have been sloppy.

GOAL! Fulham 1-0 Bournemouth (De Cordova-Reid)

The Fulham striker capitalises on a slip. The home side are ahead.

Liverpool 0-0 Burnley

Early possession for the Reds

It’s been a start as you would expect from Liverpool. Plenty of the ball, though Burnley have had a couple of free-kicks. No goal-mouth action to speak of just yet.

Kick-off around the grounds

  • Fulham 0-0 Bournemouth
  • Tottenham 0-0 Brighton
  • Luton 0-0 Sheffield United
  • Liverpool 0-0 Burnley
  • Wolves 0-0 Brentford

Tight game expected in the Midlands

Mail Sport’s Tara Anson-Walsh is at Molinex for us this afternoon for the clash between Wolves and Brentford. The home side ran out 2-0 winners in the fixture last season.

Brentford have looked better with Toney back in the side but they’ll still dangerously close to that drop zone.

Spurs warm ups well underway

Not long left to go until the clashes get underway this afternoon. Tottenham’s social media team have treated us to some wonderful images of the team coming out of the tunnel for their warm up.

Almost makes me feel like an actual pro!

Will Brighton suffer without De Zerbi on the touchline?

Brighton asisstant manager Andrea Maldera confirms he’ll be in regular contact with absent manager Roberto De Zerbi for the clash against Spurs.

The Italian misses the clash after suffering from heavy pain after dental surgery.

Maldera says there is ‘big responsibility on the players’ this afternoon.

Record-breaking day at Anfield

Safety permission has been granted for an extra 2,421 fans in the upper tier of the new Anfield Road stand for the visit of Burnley, taking the capacity to 60,725.

Liverpool players out doing their warm ups

The Reds can return to the top- though they would have played a game more – with a win today. It’s a big day for Kelleher, in for Alisson, as well as Endo, who comes straight back into the starting XI.

Full time at the Etihad

…and surprise, surprise, City are victorious. Everton put up a good fight for much of the game but Pep Guardiola’s side eventually found a way to win thanks to a brace from…Erling Haaland, of course.

That puts the defending champions on top of the pile. It was nice to have a feeling of a title race for a while wasn’t it?

Over at Molineux

Wolves are unchanged for the visit of Brentford from their huge 4-2 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last week.

Gary O’Neil’s side could climb up to eighth with a big win today – should Brighton suffer defeat in London.

Our man in north London

Make sure you’re following our very own Matt Barlow, who is at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium for this afternoon’s clash between Spurs and Brighton.

We’ll bring you his takes as he sees it from what could be a really exciting game.

A couple of Premier League landmarks

Both Virgil van Dijk and Ross Barkley are set to make their 250th Premier League appearance today.

The Liverpool skipper will be keen to put his costly mistakes against Arsenal behind him, while Barkely is coming off a goalscoring appearance in the Hatters’ last outing against Newcastle.

Luton boss Rob Edwards aware that things can quickly change

The Hatters have shocked almost everyone so far this season and are coming off the back of a thrilling 4-4 at St James’ Park against Newcastle.

They welcome Sheffield United to Kenilworth Road today with the chance to go 13 points ahead of Chris Wilder’s team with a game in hand.

Edwards spoke ahead of the clash and said his team are enjoying the ride but are wary that things can quickly turn in the Premier League

Don’t forget about the Clarets

Here are some pictures of the Burnley boys arriving at Anfield earlier. Vincent Kompany’s team come into the game without any expectation, though, considering their league position, they really need some points.

Burnley are currently 19th in the league and could end the weekend level at the bottom with Sheffield United if results go against them.

Alisson absent after ‘flu outbreak in the Liverpool camp’

Reports are claiming that the Brazilian and Jor Gomez will miss the Burnely clash after an outbreak of flu in the Liverpool camp.

Brighton arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium

Here are the Seagulls arriving in north London earlier. Big news on the injury front as Mitoma returns to start and Fati is on the bench.

Look who’s back Spurs fans

Skipper Son Heung-min returns to the Tottenham squad after South Korea were dumped out of the Asian Cup. He only returns to the subs bench though, with Richarlison in fine form up front.

Sarr STARTS for Spurs, having return from the African Cup of Nations last week.

Breaking: Burnley team news

Kompany got a great reponse from his team last week, having been 2-0 down at Fulham before rescuing a draw.

He makes THREE alterations to that team as Fofana, Esteve and Delcroix come in.

Breaking: Liverpool team news

jurgen Klopp has opted to make a few changes from the team that lost at the Emirates. Endo returns from his exploits with Japan at the Asian Cup. There are also starts for Kelleher and Quansah.
