Queen Letizia looked effortlessly elegant in blue as she attended the 10th anniversary of King Felipe’s proclamation today.

The European royal, 51, opted for satin midi dress for today’s celebration at the Royal Palace in Madrid.

The stylish gown featured a chic square neckline, asymmetric sleeve and A-Line skirt.

The mother-of-two offset her stylish ensemble with minimal jewellery, opting for a pair of dangling blue-and-amber crystal earrings.

Letizia also opted for a glamorous warm brown smokey eye and nude lipstick for her husband’s special day.

Felipe and Letizia were also joined at the Palace by their daughters Princess Leonor, 18, and Princess Sofia, 17.

The future Queen looked radiant in a red suit jacket and trousers and matching top.

Leonor – who is currently completing her military training at Zaragoza Military Academy in Northern Spain – wore her light brown hair down and in a centre parting for the occasion.

Meanwhile, Sofa looked equally elegant in a black dress with pink tie-dye ruching on the front.

The Princess – who is currently a student at UWC Atlantic college in Wales – also wore her long brown hair down and finished off her look with a rosy lipstick.

King Felipe of Spain, who was dapper in a navy suit, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his ascension to the throne today.

After a ceremony inside the Palace, the family-of-four then appeared on the balcony to wave to crowds of royal fans.

Felipe’s father Juan Carlos famously abdicated in 2014 following a series of scandals and affair rumours. Two years before, the ex-monarch’s popularity nosedived when he was pictured posing next to a dead elephant in Botswana while Spain was struggling with the financial crisis.

In more recent months, Queen Letizia herself has been faced with unproven accusations of an affair with her ex-brother-in-law Jaime del Burgo.

Last month, Spanish journalist Jaime Peñafiel, 91, launched a fresh attack on the European Queen with his new book ‘Letizia’s Silences’.

Following his first best-selling book ‘Letizia & I’ (which alleged that Letizia had an affair with her ex brother-in-law Jamie del Burgo), the veteran royal reporter claims in his latest work that Felipe was ‘aware’ of his wife’s alleged infidelity ‘in real time’.

The author alleges that bodyguards joined Queen Letizia on a trip she took to New York in 2011 with her ‘lover’ Jaime del Burgo, whom she had dated before meeting Felipe.

The author wrote: ‘That day [in New York], she was accompanied by her faithful escorts, who, without a doubt, any, they would pass a report to the Ministry of the Interior or [the Palace of] Zarzuela.’

Following this, Jaime claims that Felipe has been left ‘crushed and destroyed’ by his wife’s alleged cheating.

The royal reporter – who worked for Hola! magazine for 20 years – claims that Felipe has been ‘plunged into hell’ by his wife’s supposed ‘betrayal’ and ‘wants to get out’.

Elsewhere in the book, Jamie labels Queen Letizia ‘cold, emotionally immature and passive aggressive’ and makes unsubstantiated claims she is ‘hated’ by King Felipe’s family.

Jaime Peñafiel, 91, was sacked by the Spanish newspaper El Mundo after 20 years earlier this year following the publication of first book on the Queen called ‘Letizia & I’.
