Just hours ahead of Super Bowl LVII, new research shows the songs Americans in each state are searching by halftime performer Rihanna

The data shows a wide variety of songs from coast to coast with Californians listening to ‘Only Girl in the World,’ and Maine residents searching for ‘Umbrella.’ 

The Sunday performance by the Barbadian singer is the first after a nearly seven-year music hiatus and comes 18 years after she released her first single. 

The Super Bowl LVII face off between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs kicks off at 3.30pm pacific standard time and takes place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona

Rihanna’s performance, while not set exactly, is expected to start around 7.45pm.

It’s no surprise that the ‘Umbrella,’ the 2007 release that featured Jay-Z and has since been described as ‘the song that changed her life’ is the most popular song across the United States.   

Of the 50 U.S. states, ‘Umbrella’ is the top song for 11 of them, according to the data compiled by GetCenturyLink

Arizona, Arkansas, Indiana, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee are searching for the 2007 single which has sold more than six million copies. 

The song gained massive success thanks to remixes, covers, and colorful reiterations of the infamous music video. 

‘Spider-Man’ actor Tom Holland gave a viral performance of the song on the show ‘Lip Sync Battle’ back in 2017. 

The video posted to YouTube has more than 138 million views. 

‘Glee’ also covered the Rihanna smash-single, mashing it up with Gene Kelly’s ‘Singing in the Rain’ in 2012. A video of the scene from the show posted to YouTube has 23 million views today.

Just behind ‘Umbrella,’ the second-most popular song among states is ‘Only Girl in the World.’

Typically seen as canonically opposite, California and Texas share the song as their most searched single, along with Colorado, Connecticut, Kentucky, Maryland, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin. 

The song was released in 2010 off her fifth album ‘Loud’ and was the lead single. 

The next top song is ‘Love on the Brain,’ which has been streamed more than a billion times on Spotify. The 2016 release came from the singer’s ‘Anti’ album. 

The song is most searched among residents in Delaware, Idaho, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and South Carolina. 

Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Oregon and Virginia searched for ‘Work’ while Arkansas, South Dakota, Wyoming and Washington, D.C. were streaming ‘Stay.’

‘Needed Me’ was popular in Georgia, Louisiana, Nevada and New Jersey, ‘We Found Love’ in Iowa, New York and West Virginia, and ‘Diamonds’ in New Mexico and North Dakota. 

One three states stood completely alone in their most searched song.

 according to the data compiled analyzing Google Trends, the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and Spotify.

Vermont’s most popular song is ‘Disturbia’ while Kansas searched ‘Rude Boy,’ and Maine listened to ‘Take a Bow.’

It’s unclear at this time which songs from the list Rihanna will perform at Sunday’s halftime show but past Super Bowl singers have been known to to perform many of their top hits and fan favorites. 

No matter what she sings, the ‘Lift Me Up’ singer joins a long list of iconic performers like Prince, Madonna, Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child, U2, and Michael Jackson.
