Sarah De Lagarde Train Accident –A mother who lost an arm and a leg after stumbling on a Tube station and was run over twice was told she could have died at least ten times.
Sarah de Lagarde, 44, from Camden, north London, was travelling home from work on Friday, September, 30 when she fell down in between a Tube platform edge and a train.
This morning she has revealled how being home Christmas with her family has added an extra sparkle to their holidays as she was able to celebrate after just three months of recovery.
On Good Morning Britain this morning Ms de Lagarde said: ‘I’m good I’m feeling fine I mean obviously this is a terrible thing to happen to one but I’m so privileged and grateful that I am alive.

On Good Morning Britain this morning Ms de Lagarde said: ‘That night I was told I could have died at least ten times’
‘That night I was told I could have died at least ten times, it was quite an accident to have happened but once you survive that, I was absolutely excited to be alive.
‘The joy is there so if you think about it my family could have spent Christmas without me and the fact I am alive and that I am here is incredible. Everything has an extra sparkle to it.’

She further explained how her recent trip up Mount Kilimanjaro also helped with her recovery and resilience.
The mother-of-two added: ‘I had to make them a promise when my eight year old was crying, speaking to me on facetime, I had to promise that I will be home for Christmas.’
She and her family have fundraised more than £278,457, at the time of writing, for a bionic arm which is capable of acting on brain signals.
The mother-of-two was determined to get back home with her family for Christmas and so worked hard to recover in just three months to keep her promise to her eight-year-old daughter
The wife said: ‘I had to make them a promise when my eight year old was crying, speaking to me on facetime, I had to promise that I will be home for Christmas’
People from across the world have pledged their support for Ms de Lagarde’s recovery.
Ms de Lagarde fell asleep on the train and had missed her stop and rushed to get off at High Barnet station.
She lost her footing and fell down the gap between the train and the platform edge.
Ms de Lagarde said she was left ‘bloodied and mangled’ when the train left the station with nobody nearby to hear her calls.
Shortly after a second train pulled into the station and hit her but it took 15 minutes before anyone heard her pleas for help.

The wife and mother fell onto the tracks at High Barnet station on her commute home after she fell asleep and missed her intended stop
She was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel where she was taken to a specialist unit where her arm and leg were amputated.
Ms de Lagarde shared a messge of hope of the popular day time TV programmme, she said: ‘I would say that our life is so so precious and an accident like this could have happened to anyone.
‘That’s the thing and it makes you realise how precarious your life is and instead of worrying about the smaller things in life.
‘We should be focusing on the things that really matter and for me it was saying I love my family, I love my husband I love my children and that sentiment should override everything else so don’t sweat the small stuff.’
Ms de Lagarde, was discharged from hospital last Friday and any extra money raised through the fundraiser will go to the hospital and air ambulance.

On her fundraising page, organised by husband Jeremy de Lagarde, Sarah wrote: ‘2022 was on track to be the best year of my life… I was enjoying my job, I went on outdoor adventures with my kids and climbed Kilimanjaro in August and then about a month later my year took a dark turn.
BUT I’m alive and so so grateful to celebrate Christmas with my family. I thank you for your support and your kind encouragements.
Next year will be a whole new adventure, hopefully including new well functioning artificial limbs! I wish you all a fabulous year end, stay healthy and happy.’
