EXCLUSIVE: Smiling Savannah Guthrie waves and says she’s ‘feeling good’ as she steps out in NYC with daughter – just days after vanishing from Today show mid-broadcast because she tested positive for COVID

  • Savannah Guthrie appeared smiling and in good health after contracting Covid
  • The anchor on NBC’s Today show disappeared mid-way through a broadcast
  • On Saturday she said that she was ‘feeling good’ as she walked in public in NYC

NBC anchor Savannah Guthrie was seen smiling and waving on Saturday and said she was ‘feeling good’ –  just four days after testing positive for Covid.

Guthrie, 51, was pictured in Manhattan and appeared to be in good sprits despite recently testing positive for the virus – and suddenly vanishing from the set of the Today show.

Although she appeared on air for the first 30 minutes of Tuesday’s show, viewers were left confused when she suddenly disappeared after a commercial break.

Her co-host Sheinelle Jones, who was beside her for the half an hour she was on-set, later said she ‘wasn’t feeling great’ so took a test which came back positive.

‘Savannah left early, she wasn’t feeling great, so she took a Covid test. It came back positive,’ Jones told viewers.

‘As soon as we found out, she rushed home to rest up. So Savannah, we love you, wishing you a speedy recovery.’

In May last year Guthrie revealed she had tested positive for Covid a second time.

The Today co-anchor, who is vaccinated and boosted, share a photo of her positive test on Instagram. She also posted photos of herself wearing an N95 mask and her air purifier on the highest setting.

‘So this happened — again! Covid +, air filter on “turbo” and it will be an isolating Mother’s Day for this mama!!!’ she wrote. ‘I feel fine, just slight cold so far. Thankful to be vaccinated!’

Guthrie first tested positive in 2022 January during the omicron surge, less than a week after co-host Hoda Kotb said she had the virus.

Her disappearance last week came amid Kotb’s more recent week-long absence from the morning show.

On Wednesday NBC’s Craig Melvin told viewers: ‘A lot of you have been wondering how [Hoda] is doing. We can tell you that Hoda is OK, she’s got a family health matter that she’s been dealing with.’

Craig, who was joined in the studio by Jones and Al Roker, did not share any other information about the ‘family health matter’, nor did the Today hosts reveal which members of Hoda’s family have been affected.

Conservative pundit Megyn Kelly used Guthrie’s caution around Covid and her mysterious departure as an opportunity to mock her during her own show.

‘All of it is such a perfect indication of how the left, and especially the left in New York, continues to live,’ she said during her SiriusXM podcast.

‘I mean, at this point, seriously? Is anyone still even testing for Covid?’

‘This is reportedly Savannah’s third bout of Covid, and I guarantee you she’s had all the vaccines and the boosters because you won’t be able to go into 30 Rock without them,’ said Kelly.

‘It’s amazing to me. These guys are leftists and it’s amazing to me to see how the leftists still live under the grip of Covid,’ she added.

When explaining what happened to Guthrie, Kelly noted beloved weatherman Al Roker slowly walking off-camera in what appeared to be an attempt to social distance.

‘I got dollars to donuts that [Al] Roker’s there with an N95 tomorrow all day on set,’ she said.
