Seven people have been injured after a double-decker bus crashed outside a shop on a busy street in north-west London.

The horror crash unfolded earlier today when the bus veered off the road and smashed into scaffolding outside the West 9 Food & Wine store on Harrow Road in Maida Vale.

Emergency services raced to the scene just before 2:30pm and medics treated seven people in total, including the driver, with four being taken to hospital.

Pictures from the scene show the crumpled front of the number 18 bus surrounded by shards of glass, with its front windscreen and driver’s side window having been smashed during the incident.

Other images also show a trail of destruction left in its wake, having crashed through a lamppost and several bollards before stopping.
