Four  car passengers killed in horror accident  with a ute on a country road – driver  survives and is rushed to hospital

  • Ute and car have collided at Pine Lodge just outside Shepparton in Victoria 
  • Driver of the car was flown to hospital while the ute driver has minor injuries 
  • The car ended up in a paddock and police confirmed four passengers died  
  • Detectives are being flown up from Melbourne to investigate the cause 

Four people have died after a car collided with a ute near the Victorian rural city of Shepparton.

The crash occurred about 4.45pm on Wednesday afternoon with the driver of the car being flown to hospital in a serious condition, while the driver of the ute suffered minor injuries.

Traffic has been halted at the site – an intersection in Pine Lodge just east of Shepparton – as emergency crews attend the scene.

The car was knocked off the road and has ended up in a paddock, with Victoria Police confirming four passengers perished.

The driver of the ute remained at the scene to assist emergency crews. 

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are being flown from Melbourne to investigate the scene and determine the cause of the crash.
