Shocked firefighters discover a body when responding to a shed fire in Devon: Police launch investigation into mysterious find

A police investigation has been launched following the discovery of a body after a shed fire broke out in Bampton, Devon.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to an address near The Exeter Inn in Tiverton Road last night on April 21.
The fire broke out at some time around 8pm and the police were then called at 8.20pm after firefighters discovered a body.
It has not yet been confirmed who the person was, including their age or sex.
A road closure in both directions was put in place between Cove Hill in Cove and the B3227 at Black Cat junction in Bampton.

That remains in force for today while police continue to carry out an investigation.
Pip Orne, the pub landlord at the Exeter Inn, confirmed that officers were still patrolling the scene, ITVX understands.
The closeness of the incident has meant the pub’s main car park has been cut off.
Ms Orne said: No one is allowed down there. All we know is it happened around 9pm yesterday and apparently, someone has been found down there.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘Police were called by the fire brigade to attend a report of a shed fire in Bampton. Sadly, a body of a person has been discovered at the scene.
‘Police are on scene investigating at this time. We believe there is no threat to the wider public.’
