A teenager has been charged with murdering a man who was stabbed to death in south London.

Filipe Oliveira, 20, was knifed outside Tulse Hill train station earlier this month before dying in a nearby shop. Paramedics tried to treat his injuries, but the ‘much-loved’ man died at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police said Caudel Haughton, 19, has been charged with Mr Oliveira’s murder. He is due to appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court today.

Mr Oliveira was found bleeding to death on April 15 around 6pm inside a shop along busy Norwood Road.

His heartbroken family, who are understood to have relocated to London form Portugal, said he was taken away from them by ‘senseless knife crime with no provocation’.

His mother previously told the Evening Standard that the ‘darkness’ of her son’s death will surround her for the rest of her life. His sister, Soraira Oliveira, paid tribute to her ‘very spiritual’ and kindhearted brother in a crowdfunder seeking help with funeral costs.

‘He was a very much loved member of our family and his loss will be felt strongly forever,’ Miss Oliveira penned.

‘His friends are forever going to miss his company, jokes, laugh and smile.’

She said Mr Oliveira was one of the ‘funniest people you could come across’ and always wanted to help others.

‘He would be willing to give his last pound away to someone else who needed it and shared everything he had,’ she wrote. ‘Filipe was a very spiritual person and was using this to find himself and to become the good strong young man we knew he would grow to be.’

She also launched an appeal for help with funeral costs, saying: ‘No one plans for someone to die at 20 years old. Especially not for them to be taken so violently and suddenly.

‘We hope that you are able to donate or share this link to help us be able to give him a funeral and send off fitting of the good person he was.’

Miss Oliveira concluded: ‘Rest in Peace Filipe – we love you forever.’
