‘She needed a producer in her ear’: The View host Sunny Hostin says Kaitlan Collins was not ‘prepared’ for Trump as she joins criticism of CNN town hall

The View‘s Sunny Hostin joined in the criticism of CNN’s town hall with Donald Trump, leveling her criticism at moderator Kaitlan Collins.
Hostin said Collins was ‘not prepared’ and ‘needed a producer in her ear’ while sparring with Trump last night. She, like many Democrats, thinks Trump should never have been given a platform.
Hostin’s criticism came after heaping praise from her conservative co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin.

‘To be honest, I didn’t like the platform. But I also want to say this, because I know she’s getting flack from some folks, Kaitlan Collins did a masterful job,’ she said.
Hostin jumped in.
‘Masterful job? Wow.’
Griffin continued in her defense of Collins, 31.
‘As a young woman, seeing a 30-year-old journalist take it to one of the most powerful men in the world.
‘She got in there… it’s really easy to Monday morning quarterback it, but she stood there and she kept her cool when he called her sexist things. He called her a ‘nasty’ woman.
‘Well, that was an hour in,’ Hostin shot back.
‘I don’t think that she was prepared.
‘I don’t think he should have been given a platform. I was wondering when he was going to be fact-checked in real-time.

‘I think she needed a producer in her ear. We needed a chyron, this is a lie, this is a lie, this is a lie.
‘That’s what the media’s job is. The media’s job is to hold their feet to the fire and to get at the truth. You know what she didn’t do? She didn’t mention that Mexico didn’t pay for the wall! We paid for the wall,’ she fumed.
Trump called Collins a ‘nasty person’ and derided her for not allowing him to speak.
She has been lambasted on both sides for the event, which pulled in 3million viewers.
Despite complaints from staff including media reporter Oliver Darcy, new boss Chris Licht said he was happy with the result.
‘While we all may have been uncomfortable hearing people clapping, that was also an important part of the story because the people in that audience represent a large swath of America.
‘The mistake the media made in the past is ignoring that those people exist just like you cannot ignore that President Trump exists.
‘I absolutely unequivocally believe America was served very well by what we did last night,’ he said on a call with staff on Thursday.
