  • Jandi Hughes, 16; Anna Barker, 14; and 12-year-old Olivia Carrier were last seen on Spur Drive in Denham Springs, Louisiana, around midnight on Thursday
  • Sheriffs in Livingstone Parish are appealing for help tracking them down amid concerns for their safety due to freezing weather warnings in place until Sunday
  • On Facebook some users shared social media posts made by the girls, in which they claimed they were in Texas and were ‘playing hide and seek’
  • Olivia even mocked the photo of herself that was being used to raise awareness, and claimed she was not 12

Police in Louisiana are hunting for three young girls who went missing from their homes on Thursday evening – but who are apparently boasting about their disappearance on social media, calling it ‘hide and seek’.

Jandi Hughes, 16; Anna Barker, 14; and 12-year-old Olivia Carrier were last seen on Spur Drive in Denham Springs, Louisiana, around midnight on Thursday.

Livingston Parish Sheriffs’ Office has issued an appeal for information, saying: ‘No foul play is suspected. But, due to the pending dip in temperatures, we are hoping to locate them as soon as possible.’

On Facebook, however, people shared screenshots they said were the girls taunting the police, and mocking the search.

Olivia replied: ‘yeah we did it’s called hide and seek.’

Others shared SnapChat messages from the girls.

‘Say we all the way in Texas,’ wrote Olivia.

Denham Springs is 200 miles from the state line, without any passenger trains. A provisional driving license could be obtained at the age of 16 in the state, but a source told DailyMail.com the investigators are not convinced ‘they have the resources’ to drive to Texas.

In another post shared to Facebook, Anna apparently wrote: ‘Boy y’all f***** me up on ma runaway pic,’ with laughing emojis.

One woman wrote on Facebook: ‘Jandi is posting on snap currently from indoors stating they’re fb famous and also fine and don’t want to be found.’

Another added: ‘i have jandi on snapchat and she thinks that it’s a joke.’

One said: ‘Pretty sure they are all together. According to Jandi’s story, she won’t let anything happen to ‘her girls.’

And another commented: ‘That’s actually ridiculous. She’s 16, not their ‘protector’. I’d be so livid if I was these children’s parents.’

A spokesman for Livingston Parish Sheriffs told DailyMail.com they were aware of the social media posts, and detectives were investigating.

They urged anyone with information to come forward.
