Woman in her 40s is ‘beaten to death’ in home as police arrest 38-year-old man

A woman was allegedly ‘beaten to death’ in a horrifying attack at her home, police said.
Staffordshire Police were called to an address on Thursday in Meir, Stoke-on-Trent, and later arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of assault by beating.
Police officers found a woman in her 40s inside the home who was rushed to hospital where she later died.
Pictures from the time show two police cars, an ambulance and a paramedic car parked outside the address.
A resident told StokeonTrentLive: ‘We saw a lot of police cars coming in, plus ambulances and the air ambulance. One police car has stayed outside the property. It has been very worrying.’

Police said a referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) in relation to the incident.
