‘Thieves’ look anything but in their revealing clothes as they smile after allegedly switching their old pram for a luxury model – but cops have the last laugh

  •  Two women allegedly take new pram off shelf
  •  Baby swapped from old one to the new one
  • Police are asking for help finding them

A desperate appeal from police to find two suspected pram thieves caught allegedly walking out of a store with a brand new stroller is over after their Facebook plea garnered plenty of attention.

Police said the two women walked into the Baby Bunting store on Albany Highway in the southern Perth suburb of Cannington just before 3pm on February 18.

CCTV footage from the store showed the women casually strolling into the store with an old pram and a baby sitting inside it.

The two women allegedly pulled a new pram off the shelf before ripping the tags off and moving the baby from the old pram to the new stroller.

The pair then allegedly abandoned the old stroller inside the store before confidently walking out of the store’s main entrance with the new pram and the baby.

After two weeks of investigating, police failed to identify the two women and turned to Facebook for help.

Western Australia Police posted screenshots from the Baby Bunting store and appealed to the public for assistance in tracking them down.

Despite the Facebook post being filled with comments about their appearance, a Western Australia Police spokeswoman confirmed they had identified the pair on Monday afternoon.

‘Various people have provided information to Crime Stoppers which has been forwarded to investigators,’ the police spokeswoman said.

‘If there is sufficient evidence to proceed with charges, they would most likely be charged with stealing.’

Police had earlier used local radio to try and find the two women, appealing for help in an interview with ‘Burgo’ on 6iX on Saturday morning.
