A grateful mother-of-two has thanked the stranger who ‘saved Christmas‘ when he paid for her shopping haul after a mistake by her real estate agency saw her account be drained.

The Aussie mum revealed she’d been at the checkout of a Woolworths supermarket on Friday when she realised her account had been overdrawn.

Her former real estate agency had mistakenly withdrawn two weeks’ worth of rent, despite she and her two sons having moved homes three months ago.

‘To the man who just saved Christmas, I can’t express what you’ve just done for my boys and I,’ she wrote.

‘I was so embarrassed at the counter of Woolies when I found out my real estate took two weeks of rent – I haven’t lived there in three months.

‘I was putting my shopping back when he stepped up and paid for my whole shop. This included two toys for my boys for Christmas.’

She wrote that the ‘selfless’ act was the boost she needed for the holidays.

‘This man has just made our Christmas great,’ she said.

‘There are still amazing people in the world. I am so grateful to him.’

She later added the man was her family’s ‘guardian angel’ and that his random act of kindness brought her to ‘ugly tears’.

The heartwarming message gained more than 7,300 reactions since it was posted with hundreds of commenters applauding the man’s Christmas spirit. 

‘Now that’s putting love in Christmas!’ one wrote.

‘There really are some beautiful souls in this world still,’ another commented. 

The mother said she has since contacted her bank who have requested an ‘urgent dispute’ over the funds withdrawn.

‘But this may take 24 to 48 business hours (to clear),’ she said.

‘It’s been three months since the last payment came out then all of a sudden today one came out.

‘The bank has now put a permanent block to stop them accessing funds.’
