Woolworths worker’s disgusting act is called out by shocked shopper: ‘It’s inappropriate – this should be reported’

  • Woman claimed store manager had used ‘hardcore slurs’
  • She said manager was directing tirade at another worker

A frustrated shopper has asked if she acted like a ‘Karen’ after hearing a manager swear and repeat ‘hardcore slurs’ in front of a group of children.

The new mother said she hadn’t visited a supermarket since giving birth to her baby but had decided to visit her local Woolworths last week.

As she walked through the aisles of the store in Brisbane‘s CBD the woman said she heard the ‘worst language come out of this manager’s mouth’.

She said the expletive-ridden tirade had been directed at another employee.

‘I’m a pretty big swearer myself, and I’ve worked in retail for 10 years so I know how intense it can be, but this stuff was over the line,’ the woman wrote.

‘I was there visibly with my kid and saw other parents with kids too. The store is pretty small so you could hear it throughout.’

The woman compared the ‘hardcore’ outburst to something people might witness on the ‘Ipswich line at 10pm’.

‘Am I overreacting a bit? I think i might be. But this was crazy,’ she wrote.

‘Not trying to start any dramas but would love everyone’s thoughts.’

Reddit users were quick to validate the woman in the comments.

‘Not a Karen. A Karen would have made a scene in the store when it’s not your problem,’ one user replied.

‘It’s inappropriate but beyond complaining on the website which will go to said manager and thus ignored what else can you do.’

‘I would have opened a can of Karen on his arse. I hate when people abuse staff. I would have also got his name and reported him to the next level up,’ another said.

A third said while they could accept some swearing in the workplace, the use of ‘hardcore slurs’ had been inappropriate and intimidating.

‘I would even go further to say that the manager is obviously in much need of help & support with his anger management too,’ they said.

‘This will always be a judgement call from yourself, however inside a shop with plenty of onlookers someone should take action.’

‘Nope, not a Karen, that boss should be reported,’ a fourth wrote.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Woolworths for comment.
