On Wednesday Katelyn Markham’s fiancé, John Carter was arrested. He has been charged with two counts of murder in connection with Katelyn’s death according to Butler County Prosecutor Mike Gmoser.
After being indicted for Katelyn Markham’s murder John Carter is now in jail. When Katelyn disappeared in 2011 John had initially stated to ABC News that he believed she was still alive.
After Markham’s remains were discovered in 2013 Jonathan Palmerton was charged with perjury related to the case. Now that Markham’s fiancé John Carter has been arrested and charged with her murder it may bring some closure to those affected by her death.

Katelyn Markham disappeared from her home in Fairfield in 2011. Her fiancee Carter called 911 to report her missing and the Fairfield Police began treating it as a missing person case.
Police and volunteers searched for Katelyn for many months after she went missing. She left behind her purse keys and dog which made it difficult for the police to find her.
Katelyn Markham’s bones were found in a forest area in Cedar Grove Ind. in the spring of 2013. The coroner determined that Katelyn’s death was a murder but the exact cause of her death is still unknown.
After searching for months investigators identified a suspect in Katelyn Markham’s case but they did not have enough evidence to prosecute. Michael Strouse and Ellen “Ellie” Weik were also considered possible suspects.
