Drake Becomes First Musician Ever To Get 100 Billion Spotify Streams

Drake has made history by becoming the first artist to achieve 100 billion streams on Spotify. This milestone is a testament to his enduring popularity and influence in the music industry.

The news was shared by Kurrco on X (formerly Twitter), sparking discussions about his highly publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar.

The feud began earlier this year when Kendrick dissed Drake on Future and Metro Boomin’s track “Like That.” In response, Drake released several diss tracks, including “Family Matters,” “The Heart Part 6,” and more. These tracks have contributed significantly to his overall streaming numbers, with “Family Matters” alone garnering 75 million streams.

Drake’s impressive streaming numbers have been confirmed by Hip Hop All Day and verified by KWORB, which tracks streams and rankings.

He has more than double the streams of Eminem, who has 46.8 billion streams on Spotify. In the rap genre, Drake’s dominance is unparalleled, with Bad Bunny being his closest competitor across all genres, having 78.5 billion streams.

The news of Drake’s achievement has also led to discussions about his recent diss track “Push Ups,” which addresses various ongoing beefs, particularly with Kendrick Lamar. The song’s cover art features a label for a size 7 shoe, mocking Kendrick with the line: “How the fuck you big steppin’ with a size-seven men’s?” However, a sneaker boutique clarified that Kendrick’s shoe size is actually 8.5-9.

Drake’s success on Spotify is not limited to his own music. He has also collaborated with other artists, such as Sexyy Red, on the single “U My Everything.” These collaborations have helped him expand his fan base and increase his overall streaming numbers.

Looking ahead, DJ Akademiks recently revealed that Drake has more new music on the way for summer. Fans are eagerly anticipating further updates on Drake’s upcoming projects.

How Drake’s Feud Wth Kendrick Lamar Impacted His Streaming Numbers

Kendrick Lamar’s diss songs against Drake have had a significant impact on their respective streaming numbers. According to Billboard, Kendrick Lamar has seen a huge spike in his streaming figures while Drake’s numbers have fallen slightly amid their escalating feud.

Kendrick Lamar’s diss tracks, including “Euphoria,” “Meet the Grahams,” and “Not Like Us,” have all logged millions of streams. “Euphoria” debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and could climb to No. 1 on next week’s chart. “Not Like Us” is also in contention for the top spot, having registered 21.1 million streams in its first three days of release.

Beyond his diss records against Drake, Kendrick’s back catalog is also enjoying a windfall, with his overall discography earning 50.62 million streams from May 3-6, up 49 percent from the same Friday-to-Monday tracking period last week. In contrast, Drake’s discography suffered a 4.9 percent dip between these same periods, despite him releasing two diss tracks of his own.

Kendrick Lamar recently broke Drake’s record for the biggest single-day streams of a Hip Hop song in U.S. Spotify history with “Not Like Us.” The track surpassed Drake and Lil Baby’s blockbuster hit “Girls Like Girls,” which previously held the record of 6.593 million streams in a day. “Not Like Us” blew away “Girls Like Girls” with 11 million streams in just one day.

In terms of financial impact, Kendrick Lamar’s diss songs have reportedly earned him six figures in streaming income. According to HITS Daily Double, across Lamar’s fiery tracks, he supposedly pulled in an estimated $562,368 in just one week. “Not Like Us” alone reportedly grossed a total streaming revenue of $264,325 (58,739,000 counted streams), while “Euphoria” earned $205,896, and “Meet The Grahams” brought in $92,147.

The feud has also had a significant impact on the streaming charts, with Lamar’s four diss tracks all featured in the Top 10 on Spotify and Apple Music.

His back catalogue has enjoyed a 49 percent boost, according to Billboard. He is likely to debut atop the US Charts next week with “Not Like Us,” his fourth ever number one single.

However, despite the intense media attention and streaming numbers, some scholars argue that the real winners of the feud are the media outlets and streaming platforms that have benefited from the drama.

Associate Professor of Hip Hop at the University of Virginia, A.D. Carson, notes that the objectification of rappers is a concern and that the feud could have wider implications for the rap world.
