Moreover, Bess’ niece, Marie Hinson Blood, stated that Bess had a medical issue that prevented her from having children.

Wilhelmina Beatrice Rahner was her birth name, and she spent most of her career in Brooklyn, New York. She starred in the film Religious Racketeers while pursuing her professional career.

Numerous people praised her performance in the film. Yet, the footage aroused debate among spiritualists since she demonstrated the concept that connection with those who have departed is impossible.

Who Are Harry Houdini Parents? Family Explored

Harry Houdini claimed to have been born on April 6, 1874, in Appleton, Wisconsin; however, Erich Weiss, who was born on March 24, 1874, in Budapest, Hungary, was the youngest of three sons of Rabbi Samuel and Cecilia (Steiner) Weiss (who also had a daughter, Gladys).

The Weiss family fled Hungary for a better life and settled in Appleton. “Maybe April 6 was the date Samuel Weiss landed in Wisconsin,” Ruth Brandon speculated in her book The Life and Many Deaths of Harry Houdini. The Weisses also lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and New York.

Erich was dedicated to his mother and sought methods to make her life easier. At one point, he began asking for money on the street. He hid the money in his hair and clothing before approaching his mother and said, “Shake me; I’m magic.”

She did, and a torrent of money poured out. Nonetheless, the family remained impoverished. To assist, Erich began peddling newspapers and polished shoes at eight.

Erich was also fascinated by magic. After working as a juvenile circus acrobat (“Eric, Prince of the Air”), he began to learn how to “pick” locks or unlock them with a tool other than a key. He worked as a necktie cutter in a clothing factory to finance his pastime.

What Was Harry Houdini Net Worth At The Time Of Death?

Houdini was worth roughly $500,000 in 1926 dollars, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

While not a bad sum, you’d think a recognized performer, President of the Society of American Magicians, and guy of significant historical importance would be at least a billionaire – but no one ever claimed a performing arts career was easy. Plus, there wasn’t as much money in anything in the olden days as there is now.

Even a multibillionaire businessman/inventor like Thomas Edison, whom one may imagine was a billionaire many times over, “only” left an estate worth about $170 million. Dan Bilzerian, a well-known Instagram beard-wearer, is worth more than that.
