On Thursday, Barcelona police confirmed that a body believed to be that of Liam Hampson was found dead on a nightclub floor after a fall from a substantial height.

“Waking up to the news no one wants to hear, we are devastated to find out that Liam had an accident and sadly has not survived,” Brett wrote on Facebook.
“We are heartbroken to say the least. Liam had a heart of gold and was a much-loved son, brother, grandson, uncle and friend. Words can not express our grief.
“We can not thank his mates enough for being there with Liam having the time of his life and assisting in the search for our boy. Our thoughts are with them.
“We are asking the media to respect our privacy as we work through this time.”

Rugby player Liam Hampson passed away this past Wednesday at the age of just 24 after going missing a day before in Barcelona, Spain. He was on an end-of-season trip to Europe with other NRL players.
Spanish police have confirmed that Liam Hampson died after falling off a substantial height of approximately 10 meters and an injury to the head was his cause of death. His death is being treated as an accident and no foul play was reportedly involved.
“This morning, nightclub staff where Liam was seen for the last time, found a body on the floor in an area of the nightclub, Sala Apolo,” said the police.
Sala Apolo is a historic establishment and one of the oldest dance halls in Europe. Hampson and his friends visited the place before he lost touch with them at around 4:30 AM on Tuesday.

Jordan Rikki, the rugby player for Broncos and Hampson’s friend, has shared an emotional tribute for the deceased star. He paid respect on social media and started a GoFundMe campaign for Hampspn to bring the dead body back to Australia with a goal of $50,000.
“I love you my brother you beautiful soul, I’m so sorry,” Riki wrote in the caption of a photo posted on his Instagram story of the pair.

The campaign was able to collect $60,000 within a short span. Several other players, friends, and fans paid tribute to Liam Hampson following his untimely death.
