Actor Jeremy Renner was trying to stop his snow removal tractor from flipping over and hitting his nephew when he was dragged under the vehicle and crushed to death earlier this month. Mr. Reiner was seriously injured and broke 30 bones when his own snow plow ran over him at his Nevada home on New Year’s Day. The ‘Avengers’ star was discharged from the hospital last week after spending over two weeks in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Mr. Reiner was injured when he tried to save his adult nephew from being crushed by a seven-ton PistonBully snowcat, according to a Washoe County Sheriff’s Office report obtained by CNN. The 52-year-old was using a snowplow to get his niece’s car out of heavy snow at his home in Nevada. Mr. Reiner exited the snowplow without activating the parking brake when the vehicle, which was running on a track, “began to slide sideways,” officials said.
“He (Mr. Reiner) was afraid that the piston bully was going to kill (his nephew), so he decided to try to stop or remove the piston bully,” read the report, according to the outlet.
“Although the piston bully had some mechanical problems, based on our mechanical testing it is believed that the parking brake would have prevented the piston bully from moving forward. When Rainer (his nephew) attempted to stop or turn the piston bully to avoid injury When he tried, he was pulled over. down the track and under the running vehicle,” officials explained.
In addition, the report stated that the brake indicator light in the Snowcat’s cab was not working and that “mechanical problems may have contributed to the accident”. It said Mr. Rainer’s nephew was able to help the actor until help arrived. “He fell to the ground and focused on his breathing and (his nephew and others) helped him until medical personnel arrived at the scene,” the report said.
The ‘Hockey’ star was taken to the hospital, where he underwent at least two surgeries. He said that more than 30 of his bones were broken in the incident. Last week Mr. Reiner also posted a picture on Instagram.
