Prime Video’s superhero satire show The Boys is gearing up for its final season.
Laz Alonso, who portrays Mother’s Milk in the series, has expressed his desire for the show to end with a feature film.
Alonso recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast alongside other cast members. During the interview, Alonso revealed that he pitched a Boys movie to end the series.
He said, “I’ve been unsuccessfully pitching that we end the show with a feature film to Eric [Kripke].”
“Like, make the last episode of season five a cliffhanger and announce the film that we’ve been filming since the beginning of the series, pretty much.
Alonso admitted that showrunner Eric Kripke is yet to embrace the idea.
He added, “But he [Kripke] always somehow gets out of that one.”
Then Homelander actor Antony Starr responded, “I’m down!”
It would be exciting to envision a The Boys movie.
Maybe it could feature a massive showdown between a superhero team, like the Avengers, and their villain counterparts, with The Boys caught in the middle.
Alternatively, it might take a more subdued approach, focusing on how the world and characters evolve after the events of The Boys Season 5.
Recently, Kripke confirmed that Season 5 would be the series’ finale, revealing, “Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final okay from Vought.”
The Boys premiered in 2019 and quickly became a hit on Prime Video.
Its blend of gory action and dark humour provided a sharp satire of contemporary superhero movies and TV shows.
Based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the series centres on the titular vigilante team.
Their mission is to take down a band of supervillains led by Homelander, a character reminiscent of an anti-Superman figure.
The Boys Season 4 is currently streaming on Prime Video.
