Meagan Good has opened up about being in a relationship with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Jonathan Majors amid his public and controversial legal battle.
Good made headlines when falling for Majors and stood by his side as Majors stood trial for domestic violence against his ex-girlfriend and accuser Grace Jabbari.
Last year, Majors was found guilty of reckless assault in the third degree and guilty of harassment, with a six-person New York jury reaching their verdict on the 18th of December.
He was later sentenced to a year in an in-person batterer intervention program in Los Angeles.
“We met at an event and it was just instant chemistry,” Good told People when discussing life ahead of her upcoming Divorce in the Black movie – which comes to Prime Video on July 11.
Although she says the two hit it off straight away, she admitted that she “wasn’t really in that mind frame,” as she was still getting over her divorce from pastor DeVon Franklin.
“Then we re-met again about four months later, and I was like, ‘Oh f***, this is going to happen.’”
“And it did.”
Good may have stood by Majors’ side during his very public legal battle, however, she says she initially wanted to keep their relationship private during that period of his life.
“Someone saw us somewhere going to a movie and then kind of reported it, and it was like, Should we shut it down or not?” she told People.
“I was like, ‘No, because people have a perception of you that’s not true,” she added.
“A perception of who you date that’s not true.”
“So if this is what it is then at some point they’re going to find out,” she continued.
Good continued to reveal that Majors “actually tried to encourage” her to not “be with him,” as she says he “wanted to protect” her.
“I was like, ‘My love, first of all, you’re dealing with a Black Leo. And also, I grew up in this industry. The things that I’ve been through gave me the bandwidth to love other people, regardless.’”
“‘So when we got together it was like, this is going to be a lot, but you got the right one.”
When on the topic of the aftermath of his legal issues, Good tearfully said that it’s been “tough to watch” as she recalled Majors breaking down on stage at a recent awards show.
Behind the camera, Good says the two are “paying together, meditating, [and] working out.”
“We come outside when we need to but we’ve really existed inside this bubble and it’s been wonderful,” she told People.
She added: “It’s crazy because even with everything that’s been going on, this is the happiest I’ve been in a long time.”
