Actor Nicolas Cage’s son Weston (33) has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his mother, actress Christina Fulton (57).
The assault is said to have happened during a mental health crisis.
LAPD confirmed Weston was booked on Wednesday for ‘assault with a deadly weapon’ weeks after Christina was spotted with bruises on her face, as per the Daily Mail.
Weston, also an actor, was released on a $150k bail at around 10 in the morning.
According to The U.S. Sun, Nicolas Cage was the one who bailed Weston out.
One source told the outlet: “The family knew this was going to happen but needless to say, it is a very big shock.”
Weston and his mother were reportedly caught in a verbal dispute on April 28 before it turned physical, an ambulance was reportedly called to the home but she declined to go to hospital.
Weston had left the scene by the time the police arrived, investigators say, and law enforcement in the area are said to be determining if the case will be considered felony battery.
Sources say Fulton had attempted to console Weston, who had been dealing with emotional issues.
Despite reports circulating the web, the Snake Eyes star has denied claims the two got into an ‘argument’ and has requested privacy.
However, talks began to heighten when she was seen in public with facial bruising and a black eye as she put coins into a parking meter outside.
“Weston and I had no argument prior to the incident,” she said in a statement.
“On Sunday April 28, I was reached out to by several of Weston’s best friends for assistance because they were experiencing Weston in a mental-health crisis.”
“Upon my arrival, I was met by my son who clearly was in a state of a mental health breakdown, which in turn became a horrific experience.”
She added: “I have always supported helping my son with mental health struggles. I am doing all I can to get him the continued support he needs.”
Weston was also arrested in 2017 for a DUI and a hit-and-run.
Police, at the time, had stated that he had hit multiple parked cars, signs and mailboxes before crashing his own vehicle into a tree.
He was charged, then, with a DUI and arrested on a $30,000 bail.
In 2011, he also faced domestic violence charges after he got into a dispute with his ex-wife Nikki Williams, as reported by ABC News.
His mental health issues have been treated in the past as he was hospitalized on a psychiatric hold in 2011 after a violent incident in Los Angeles.
Fulton, at the time, blamed all of Weston’s mental health issues on his father Nicolas Cage.
“Nicolas Cage has damaged and interfered and done something absolutely horrific, and I need to just go get my son,” she told Inside Edition at the time.
“I am the one that raised Weston,” she added.
“I am the one that took care of Weston.”
“His dad was very busy out working as an actor,” she continued.
Weston was born in 1990, however, his parents Nicolas and Christina separated within a year of his birth.
