Sam Raimi is set to direct a new horror thriller for the first time in 15 years.

According to Deadline, the Evil Dead director has been tapped to direct and produce Send Help for 20th Century Studios.

Send Help is described as a two-hander set on a remote island.

The film is said to be inspired by two cinematic classics: the psychological thriller Misery, based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, and the survival drama Cast Away,  starring Tom Hanks.

There is no information surrounding the cast of the film yet.

The screenplay for Send Help will be penned by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, the creative duo behind films like Baywatch and the 2009 Friday the 13th reboot.

Sam Raimi is best known for creating the enduring the Evil Dead series. After his success with Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man trilogy, Raimi returned to directing horror films a few times.

He directed the 2009 hit Drag Me to Hell and is reportedly set to make a sequel.

He also directed the Ash vs. Evil Dead series and the first three parts of 50 States of Fright for Quibi.

Raimi’s recent projects include the horror-infused Marvel sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen.

Send Help doesn’t have a release date yet.
