The Time Bandits reimagining series is gearing up for its premiere on Apple TV+.
Comedic duo Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement have revealed they are already working on a second season of the sci-fi series ahead of its debut.
Based on the 1981 film of the same name, the Apple TV+ original series features a diverse cast, including series creators Waititi and Clement.
In a recent interview with ComicBook, the duo discussed the upcoming premiere of Time Bandits, which is set to debut next week.
When asked about the possibility of a second season, they provided an exciting update.
Clement said, “We are actually writing a second season, but it depends on if people watch the first season. If no one watches it, we throw it away in a bin.”
He also added, “But I cannot tell you because I don’t want to spoil the second season.”
Time Bandits series is a comedic reboot of the Terry Gilliam cult classic film.
According to the official logline, “The series follows an eccentric crew of bandits embarking on epic adventures while evil forces threaten their conquests and life as they know it.
“As the group is transported through time and space, the gang stumbles upon fascinating worlds of the distant past while seeking out treasure, depending on Kevin to shed light on each situation.”
“The Time Bandits witness the creation of Stonehenge, see the Trojan Horse in action, escape dinosaurs in the prehistoric age, wreak havoc during medieval times, experience the Ice Age, ancient civilizations and the Harlem Renaissance, and much more along the way.”
The series stars Lisa Kudrow, Kal-El Tuck, Tadhg Murphy, Roger Jean Nsengiyumva, Rune Temte, Charlyne Yi, Rachel House, Kiera Thompson, James Dryden, Felicity Ward, Francesca Mills, and Imaan Hadchiti.
The series also includes special guest appearances by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement.
Time Bandits is set to debut on Apple TV+ on July 24, 2024.
