On May 13, 1964, Ronnie Dean Coleman was born in Monroe, Louisiana, to parents Jessie Benton and Mac. He is the youngest among his siblings, Richard Coleman and Alain Lemieux.

A wake service to honor Benton’s memory was held on August 18, 2017, at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Arlington. Funeral services took place the following day at Mount Olive Baptist Church.
