Just before the planned opposition demonstrations, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino announced that he was arrested and held at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
He revealed this on his official Facebook page on Tuesday night, July 18, after arriving in Nairobi from Mombasa. The reason for his detention was not disclosed by the officers who arrested him.
His arrest is likely connected to the ongoing protests led by the Azimio la Umoja Coalition, demanding a reduction in the cost of living and addressing other issues. But it is yet to be confirmed.
Not to mention, Babu Owino, a supporter of ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga, was supposed to lead protests in Embakasi East from July 19 to July 21.
