Chelsea look set to miss out on one of their targets to Premier League rivals West Ham United.

It would not be the first time this summer that Chelsea have watched someone who they wanted join another club.

The Blues were keen on Michael Olise, but the winger ended up leaving Crystal Palace for Bayern Munich instead.

Since then, Chelsea have moved on to other targets, such as Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, but a move for him looks unlikely. Athletic Bilbao reckon Williams will stay this summer in a boost to Ernesto Valverde.

Chelsea have had no success with bringing in a new first-team striker either, with that also proving to be a tricky task for them.

Jhon Duran ready to tell Aston Villa he wants to join West Ham instead of Chelsea

Jhon Duran is one centre-forward who Chelsea have looked at this summer. Aston Villa could part ways with Duran, but it does not look like he will be moving to Stamford Bridge.

That is because journalist James Nursey has claimed that the 20-year-old will tell Villa this week that he wants to join West Ham despite interest from Chelsea.

According to Nursey, the Villans want £40m for Duran, who is keen to play under the Hammers’ new boss Julen Lopetegui.

The above means that Chelsea could be about to miss out on yet another footballer who they have had on their radar.

Jhon Duran should join West Ham instead of Chelsea

Duran moving to the London Stadium rather than Stamford Bridge will probably be better for his development.

The Colombian has not proven that he would be an upgrade on Nicolas Jackson, who scored 17 goals in 44 appearances for Chelsea last season, after starting just three Premier League games during the 2023/24 campaign.

The Blues could start the new season light up front, but when Jackson is fit, Duran is probably not going to play.

Ultimately, if the Colombia international wants regular game time this upcoming season, then he should ignore Chelsea’s interest and join West Ham. According to Fabrizio Romano, Duran and West Ham already have something agreed.
