Football initiation songs can sometimes be a daunting task for new signings yet great entertainment for their teammates.
Ben Brereton Diaz though appears to have excelled in his though as he prepares for life in La Liga with Villarreal.
The 24-year-old agreed a pre-contract deal with the Spanish side in January after an impressive spell at Blackburn.
His contract at Ewood Park expired at the end of the campaign, with Brereton Diaz now set for his first taste of European football.
Having now joined Villarreal, he took part in the popular tradition of new signings signing initiation songs in front of their team.
In a video posted by the club, he stood up on a chair and said ‘Hola, soy Ben’ in Spanish, which means ‘Hello, I am Ben’.
Brereton Diaz chose a classic to mark his introduction to the squad, with Neil Diamond’s ‘Sweet Caroline’ a hit amongst football fans.
His Villarreal co-stars were soon up on their feet too and began to sing along.
He may be a performer on the pitch, but it’s clear that Brereton Diaz is a star off it too.
The room was filled with an emphatic ‘Doo, doo, doo!’ as they reached the chorus before a rapturous ‘So good, so good, so good!’
Brereton Diaz somehow ended the song topless and received a round of applause for such a great performance.
With the new season just around the corner, he will be hoping he can just successful on the pitch as he was on the microphone.
Villarreal finished fifth in LaLiga last time out and will therefore compete in the Europa League in the coming campaign.
Brereton Diaz is yet to play continental football but will finally get his chance to shine following his successful efforts in England.
