Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez has now shared what he found when he joined Chelsea last January.

The Argentine joined the club for what was at the time a record fee for a British transfer, however has been a victim of the circumstances at Stamford Bridge in his time here.

Last season was a nightmare for numerous reasons for the Blues, with the experiment of Graham Potter in charge and the scattergun approach to the transfer market clearly not paying off as they would have liked.

There have been plenty of attempts to address that this season, with a more thorough process taking place that has seen them land signings such as Cole Palmer that have transformed their fortunes.

Fernandez suffered a lot this season too, with it being known that he has been playing through injury for large portions of the season.

He decided to undergo surgery, leaving the midfield duo of Moises Caicedo and Conor Gallagher to impress well in their opportunities since.

Fernandez describes Chelsea as a ‘mess’ when he joined

While his personal fortunes may have changed, the Argentine told journalist Christian Martin that what he saw when he arrived is unrecognisable to the side under Mauricio Pochettino.

He said: “When I arrived at Chelsea, it was a mess, there were many players. Mauricio [Pochettino] brought order and identity to the team, the work ethic is different. It changed everything and it’s positive…”

Mauricio Pochettino job not safe still

Reports have claimed that there are still no guarantees Pochettino will remain in his role at the club at the end of this season, even if they qualify for European football.

It was stated that the owners are demanding Europa League football for next season, and that would require results going their way elsewhere as well as a win in their last two games.

Fernandez will be raring to go again after his injury woes, with his target being to feature at the Copa America for the first time in his career with Argentina.
