Chelsea have a new manager following the arrival of Enzo Maresca and some very hard pre-season games.

This summer, Chelsea will be travelling to the United States to take on the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester City.

The Blues will also face Celtic, a friendly that Levi Colwill is looking forward to.

With a new boss to impress and some tough pre-season fixtures, it looks like some Chelsea players have been trying to get some extra work in before first-team training begins again.

Chelsea start their 2024/25 Premier League campaign with the visit of pre-season opponents City.

Chelsea star has been at Cobham

It has been reported that Ben Chilwell and Tosin Adarabioyo have already returned to Cobham, but it does not look like they are the only Chelsea players who have been there this week.

Journalist Simon Phillips says he has heard that Christopher Nkunku has also been at the club’s training ground in recent days.

On his Substack, he wrote: “Actually heard Nkunku has already been back at Cobham this week.”

Nkunku will be hoping his pre-season this year ends differently to his previous one.

Last summer, the forward got injured in Chelsea’s final friendly, a 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund, which resulted in him being sidelined until December.

Where could Christopher Nkunku play under Enzo Maresca in the new season?

Nkunku’s best position is probably just off the striker.

It has been claimed, though, that Chelsea believe that the Frenchman can play in a false-nine role, similar to Gabriel Jesus during his time at Manchester City.

It could definitely be something to explore, especially if the Blues fail to sign another striker this summer.

Chelsea could use a 4-3-3 formation in the upcoming season, so that may be the best way to fit Nkunku into the team.

The 26-year-old cost Chelsea £52m but barely played last term because of injury, so the club will want to see him get a real opportunity in the 2024/25 campaign.
