Chelsea have just made the decision to recall one player from a loan away before the upcoming season get underway.

The Blues have already got to work looking to strengthen their squad in order to give the best platform for success to new manager Enzo Maresca.

They achieved the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo after he left Fulham on a free transfer, despite the fact that he was being sought after by a number of top Premier League sides.

There has also been a lot of talk over which young members of the first team squad would be remaining at Stamford Bridge to be of the new boss’ disposal, and who was set to be spending next season away from the club.

The biggest story in that regard right now is to do with the future of Andrey Santos, with the club seemingly changing their mind and being open to him spending another campaign at Strasbourg.

Chelsea recall Lucas Bergstrom

One player who also looked set to be away for at least the first half of next season is Lucas Bergstrom, who was set for a full year away at IF Brommapojkarna.

However, the club website of the Scandanavian side has confirmed that the Blues have immediately made the decision to bring him back to the squad ahead of their pre-season tour of America.

The young goalkeeper was given a number of opportunities to impress in first team training when Graham Potter was in charge, however his chances to break into the setup on a regular basis do look slim.

He has previously been in the past described as ‘very promising’ during one of his numerous loans away from the club.

Uncertainty over Number One at Chelsea

The goalkeeper situation is one that needs plenty of attention this summer, with it remaining unknown who will play the first game of the season between the sticks against Manchester City.

It was reported that Djordje Petrovic was singled out for praise by the new boss when he was interviewing for the job, however since then it has been stated the he is planning to work with Robert Sanchez.
