Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca is on the verge of becoming the new Chelsea boss.

It is being reported that Enzo Maresca has agreed a five-year deal with Chelsea to replace Mauricio Pochettino.

He got Leicester promoted this season, often using a 4-3-3 formation.

Considering that, Chelsea really should not be offloading one of their players who is currently being linked with a move away from the club.

Who could leave Chelsea this summer?

Right now, quite a few of Chelsea’s academy graduates are being linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge.

Selling such individuals will allow the club to make pure profit, which should help them to stay in line with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah and Ian Maatsen are just a few names that have been mentioned. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Borussia Dortmund will make a bid for Maatsen after the Champions League final. The left-back is currently at the German club on loan.

Chelsea should not sell Conor Gallagher

With a £35m release clause in his contract, there may not be much Chelsea can do about Maatsen. However, the future of Gallagher is in their hands.

The club can still extend his deal, which expires next year, instead of selling him to Aston Villa, for example. And that may be the wise thing to do because he could be ideal for Maresca.

This season, Gallagher has looked like a well-rounded midfielder. He has come up with some goals for Chelsea but also done the dirty work.

He made 85 tackles in the Premier League, putting him in the top 15 players for that area. In terms of goal contributions, he came up with 12 in 37 appearances, which is not bad for a midfielder, though he was often deployed in a more attacking role.

Nevertheless, the skill set to play as a No.8 is clearly there. The England international, once described as “priceless” by Pochettino, could be perfect for Maresca.
