Chelsea are now worried about the fitness of a first-team player and could decide to send him out on loan next season as a result.

There’s no doubt that the club’s injury record has been one of the most concerning things at Stamford Bridge in the last couple of years.

It was a frustrating campaign last year for so many Blues stars due to injuries. For example, Romeo Lavia had his debut season almost completely interrupted, while Reece James and Christopher Nkunku were two key figures to have long spells out on the sidelines.

It’s now been claimed that a Chelsea individual may be loaned out next year to give him the chance to prove his fitness.

Chelsea could loan out £20m player

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed via his Substack that Chelsea are open to allowing Carney Chukwuemeka to go out on loan next season.

It is understood that the Blues have become ‘worried’ by the 20-year-old’s injury record.

Therefore, they could allow the English midfielder to leave on loan this summer so he can go play regularly and prove his fitness.

Chukwuemeka joined Chelsea in a £20m deal (BBC) from Aston Villa in the summer of 2022.

Unfortunately, he’s played just 27 games across two seasons, with several different injuries halting his progress.

Should Carney Chukwuemeka be loaned out?

The Chelsea Chronicle would much rather see Chukwuemeka get a full pre-season under Enzo Maresca before trying to nail down a spot in the XI next year.

There’s no doubt that the attacking midfielder is a very talented player that’s shown in glimpses his potential.

On the flip side, a year of regular first-team football makes sense as well.

If Chelsea are serious about loaning out Chukwuemeka, there should be a very long list of suitors.

Speaking via Chelsea’s YouTube channel last year, Marcus Bettinelli hailed Chelsea teammate Chukwuemeka as someone with an “unbelievable” first touch.

Hopefully, everyone gets to see a lot more of him next season!
