A good opportunity could be about to present itself to Chelsea and other big clubs in the summer transfer window.
Because of financial fair play, Jules Kounde is a player who Barcelona may have to sell at the end of the season, according to Marca.
Chelsea have shown interest in Kounde before, with The Athletic claiming that they were confident of signing the defender back in 2022 before his eventual €60m (£51m) move to Barcelona.
However, it now looks like they could get the chance to have another bite at it.
Chelsea should consider making fresh move for Jules Kounde
Chelsea have such a young squad. They could probably do with a bit more top-level experience and Kounde would offer that.
Kounde is now 25 years of age, has played for both Barcelona and Sevilla and has also represented the France national team on 24 occasions.
The fact that the former Bordeaux man can play at both centre-back and right-back also makes him an appealing option.
With Thiago Silva’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, the Blues may need to sign a new central defender. Kounde ticks a lot of boxes.

Will Chelsea actually make a fresh move for Jules Kounde?
Right now, there is nothing to suggest that Chelsea will actually resurrect their interest in Kounde.
And honestly, if the likes of Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana can remain fit, there may not actually be a reason for the Blues to go out and sign a new centre-half, even if Silva does depart.
Badiashile, Fofana, Axel Disasi and Levi Colwill all being available would see Mauricio Pochettino have two players each for the left centre-back and right centre-back positions.
However, keeping Badiashile and Fofana fit is proving to be an impossible task, so a move for Kounde should not be off the table, even though it does appear to be at this moment in time. But a lot can obviously happen between now and the end of the summer transfer window.
