There were a lot of poor individual performances in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Burnley yesterday.

However, there were some good ones as well, with the likes of Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto impressing again.

Palmer scored twice, which should have been enough to beat a 10-man Burnley side, while Gusto was a constant threat down the right side as he has been for most of the season.

Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy thought he played like a winger during the game.

TalkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara slammed the Blues after the match but did have some positive words for a couple of Mauricio Pochettino‘s players.

Jamie O’Hara thinks Chelsea youngster has a lot of potential

Understandably, Palmer has stolen most of the headlines at Chelsea this season.

His brace against Burnley yesterday means that the 21-year-old has now contributed to 21 goals in the Premier League for Pochettino’s team.

As well as Palmer, though, Gusto has also impressed and O’Hara thinks he could become a top player.

Speaking about Chelsea and the right-back on talkSPORT, the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder said: “You can’t tell me there’s an identity that you’re trying to get out of this squad. What I see is a group of players who aren’t actually that good, and you’ve brought them in for potential and I’m not seeing it.

“Apart from Cole Palmer, who I think is fantastic, and Gusto looks like he could be a player, the rest of them, mate, I’m looking at them and going, ‘This aren’t the Chelsea side I’m used to seeing.’ The winning mentality, not conceding goals, never getting beat at home, that is just totally gone.”

Malo Gusto injury

Gusto was forced off injured in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Burnley, and Pochettino will now be praying that the 20-year-old has not done too much damage.

The Blues boss is already without Reece James, while Gusto has been one of his team’s star performers this season.

Gusto has ranked in the 94th percentile for progressive carries and the 89th for touches in the attacking penalty area among full-backs over the last year (FBref), showing the kind of threat that he has been bringing to Chelsea’s attack.

While his team are struggling right now, the Frenchman recently stated that he is still happy with his decision to move to Stamford Bridge.
